Explore four Python strategy concepts across energy futures. This research-oriented bundle brings together one Micro Natural Gas breakout model, one gasoline futures long model, and two distinct Micro Crude Oil models. It is for developers and quantitative-trading learners who want to inspect strategy rules, compare risk controls, and build their own reproducible paper tests, not a ready-to-run profit system.
The four strategies described
-
Gasoline futures long model:
bar_rb_long_20260924_220842_gen2_portable.py. A long-only RBK6 strategy overview referencing RSI, EMA, ATR, a tightening trailing stop, and stale-feed protection. -
Micro Crude Oil geopolitical momentum:
bot_g2m_mcl_geo_momentum_v2_gen2_portable.py. A long-only MCL breakout and momentum concept described with a news-sentiment boost, moving-average alignment, a spread filter, and staged exits. Independently verify the data inputs and any news integration in the actual file. -
Micro Crude Oil volatility model:
bot_mcl_volatility_portable.py. A long/short crude-oil directional model described with volatility filtering, ATR sizing, trailing stops, and cooldown controls. Its supplied listing mentions CLN6 despite the Micro Crude Oil name; verify symbol and contract multiplier before testing.
What this is for
Study the signal and risk logic side by side, adapt the strategies to your own OHLCV data source, and develop simulated execution and validation tests. Python 3.10+ and programming experience are recommended. The supplied listings describe placeholder market-data and broker hooks; connecting, running, and validating the code requires your own work. No broker service, live data feed, or guaranteed live-trading performance is included.
Performance and evidence, read this first
The PDF listings quote estimated metrics from other backtested strategies: MNG figures are described as medians from 38 Natural Gas strategies, RB from four RB strategies, geopolitical MCL from 41 MCL strategies, and volatility MCL from 101 CL strategies. The RB and both MCL listings explicitly state that their exact configurations were not individually backtested. The MNG listing also includes a separate 53-trade scorecard; it is not interchangeable with the peer-median estimate, and the underlying trade ledger and code version have not been verified here. Brief paper-session summaries do not establish a durable edge. Do not treat any of these numbers as guaranteed or independently reproduced results for the bundle.
Before live use: inspect the delivered files and dependencies, validate each symbol and dated contract, apply correct exchange specifications and roll rules, model commissions and slippage, test risk-control edge cases, and run repeatable paper-trading and strategy-specific backtests.
Educational and research purposes only. Not financial or investment advice. Energy futures involve substantial risk of loss. Historical, simulated, and estimated figures do not predict future returns.
